Long time book reader, first time Librivox reader . . .

Sounds like a stupid first-time radio talk show call-in, doesn't it!

Recently downloaded Robinson Crusoe to listen to on my Palm. I was thinking that recording books might be something I'd like to do even at that time. I've got Audacity and the Lame Encoder installed. Now to find something short to start with so I can get some feedback.

Welcome John! We're glad you're here!

Sounds like you have a good start with the software part... now head on over to the Short Works area and find something you'd like to record -- http://librivox.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=19 ... lots of interesting tidbits waiting for you there =)

If you have any questions as you go along, don't hesitate to ask us =)

Thanks for the welcomes. Recorded my first story yesterday . . . twice. Due to minor techincal problems (user induced) I read an hour and lost everything but the first five minutes and the tail end of the story. Ah, well. It was a better reading the second time around anyway.

I'm working on editing it this morning and will post it later today.
