First of all, thank you everyone for this fantastic service. My husband and I have been listening to Libravox for months now, and we just adore it.

I have a few questions I hope someone can help me with.

#1, do you need listeners or readers more? I'd be willing to help out wherever I'm needed most. I do have the ability to make audio files and I like to read, but I'm just as willing to do the listening if that is what is needed more.

#2, If recording, would I have to use my real name and location, or could I instead use an alias and website? For example, "Reading by Eveleaf, www.rateyourwriting.com. Please let me know.

Hi eveleaf and welcome.

To answer your question about the recording, lots of people don't give their real name, so I don't see it as a problem if you prefer to remain anonymous. :)

As for which do we need more, recorders or listeners? I think the answer is we need both, so do what you like to do. I spent most of my time until recently recording. I just started listening, and both are fun. I guess the important thing is to have a good time. That way you keep coming back for more. :)

It's rewarding to hear that you like LibriVox enough to choose to contribute. Thanks!

Anonymity is fine. And as for whether we need more readers or more listeners, I think Breefolk got it right - do what you'll be most excited to do. That will be great.

If you decide to record and you're new to recording, starting with something short like a poem is a good idea. That way you can iron out the kinks in the process before you devote hours to reading and editing a long chapter. There are lots of friendly folks in the forum who can help you if you have questions, so don't be afraid to ask for technical assistance.

Hello and welcome!

There's some useful information over in our wiki:

especially down in the Newbie Guide to Recording, if you've not done this sort of thing before.

We can ALWAYS use help over in Listeners Wanted - that's the big way that I participate while at work. That, and forum-trolling. :)
