I found out about LibriVox not too long ago, and it is already becoming a major pastime for me. I'm working on recording my first chapter: Dracula Chapter 10, and spending hours trying to get Van Helsing to sound even remotely like he's from Amsterdam. :)

My name is Jonathan, but I go by jonvw in many places on the internet. I'm 26, and I live in a suburb of Chicago with my lovely wife and my cat. I do freelance web development/consulting for libraries and library-type organizations. LibriVox is interesting to me because cataloging and organizing all of these audiobooks poses an interesting library-type technical challenge. In addition to that, of course, I love the spoken word.

I hold a BA in Humanities from The University of Kansas and a Master of Library Science from Indiana University. When I'm not at the computer, I enjoy singing, eating cheese, and sailing.

Hi, Jonathan,

Another M.L.S.! I have one too, from UCLA. I also happen to sing, having trained for a number of years. Maybe we could write and sing some songs about libraries and even Librivox.

Or not.

<grin>

Well... I'm a Bruin too :) But I don't have an M.L.S. from there, I have a BA in English from there, as well as a Business Administration Specialization (think something between a Minor and a Major).

I used to sing but don't anymore. I also play flute and violin. So I might be better as vocal or instrumental back up these days ;)

Aha! I have a UCLA BA in English too!

I suppose Librivox attracts people with many characteristics in common. This is very cool, I think.
