I found out about this project last week from a librarian who has a widely-read newsletter for other librarians - I imagine the word will get around quite a bit from that!
I have volunteered for an ongoing project, but also there are a lot of people in my small city (Pine Lake, GA) who want to get together to choose a book and read it. So we are getting that organized - expect us to settle on a project around the end of the month.
I also hope my mother's book club might volunteer for a project.
I am a city council member, a business research librarian with Georgia Tech, and a returned Peace Corps volunteer (Tunisia, a long time ago!). My background for 20 years was in international development - I've visited 37 countries, and worked in most of them, been a tourist in the rest. Now I work on economic development in Georgia (USA). Being basically a northerner, adapting to the south is an ongoing process.
