I'm another recruit from the library world (a small college in Dixie) and I like the idea of this project on so many levels I can't list them.
What really convinced me I needed to help out was the Thucydides project, which seems to have gone quiet. I'm the right geek for that job. But I'm not sure if anyone is still coordinating it, so if someone could nudge me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

Welcome to LibriVox, Berry! I'm certain that folks will be overjoyed to find an enthusiastic volunteer for the Thucydides project. It has been quiet indeed over there. It looks as if four of the eight chapters are done, three are "claimed" but haven't yet been read, and one is waiting there available for you!
You can find the thread here:
Just by way of suggestion, it's often a good idea for new volunteers to read something short just to get used to the way of doing things here at LibriVox. There are plenty of good choices in the Readers Wanted: Short Works thread, and there are quite a few short chapters available in Readers Wanted: Books at the moment. Giving one of them a try, just to see what it's like, isn't a requirement but it does make things easier when you begin to tackle the more ambitious projects.
It's great to have you aboard, Berry - it's always nice to hear a fresh voice in the mix!

Send a PM to Hugh -- he's in charge of Thucydides. And if he hasn't put my chapter back in the pool, he'd better!

I was going through the projects I'm MC for and I marked your section available Kara. I also PMed Hugh about getting this project moving and so he'll be thrilled to hear from you Berry! Welcome to LIbrivox.
All righty then
