My name's Kristen, I'm 39 (and a half) and have been living in Tokyo since 1998. My English is much better than my Japanese.
I've been reading aloud since I was a kid--my little sister was my usual audience. Now I read aloud for my husband, Tod, and anyone within earshot.
When I'm not reading aloud, I do a lot of art-y projects that will never make me a millionaire but do make me happy. I travel as much as I can and when I want money, I work as a freelance video editor.
Librivox is great fun and a good challenge. I'm looking forward to reading some more chapters soon.

(She is also a ratbag, but a fabulous cook. Her fruity drinks are to fall over for!)

Konnichiwa Kristen-san,
I'm living in Japan, too, and work at Tokyo since 1999.
Just maybe we have met before...

We certainly did. It was 2001, sometime in April. We stood in line at car 4 on the Odakyu line platform at Shinjuku station waiting for the 8:47 to Hakone. You were carrying a copy of "Canterbury Tales." I wore a red carnation on my coat.
How could you forget that?
Hey, do you want to help read my section of Ulysses? I'm looking for people around town to read together. (At one of the Dubliners pubs, probably.)

I'm Kristen's little sister, Jennifer. She's a great reader. I spent many mornings listening to her voice give life to the characters in Alice in Wonderland and all of the Frank Oz books. She's the reason I love the poem "Jabberwocky" so much, and have it memorized and ready to share with anyone willing to hear it.
Short version: Her love of language is infectious. So is her laugh, and maybe those weird faces she makes too.

Ah, yes. All my friends make my same weird faces. But only you ever heard the sing-song version of Annie Oakley read in bed on weekend mornings, Jenn.
