I, too, am 36. I'm a stay-at-home mom and part-time piano teacher and live in San Diego, California. I'm married to a wonderful man (Dan) who's very supportive of my new Librivox obsession, and we have a homeschooled son (Henry) who just turned ten. He's an audiobook fanatic. He wants to be a part of Librivox and is planning to record "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" soon.

I found Librivox through boingboing.net and volunteered immediately. I had just discovered podcasting and was considering making my own public-domain podcast, so the timing couldn't have been better! I've been making audiobooks for Henry for years by reading his bedtime stories into the pinhole microphone of my iBook, and before that by reading into a tape recorder. Those recordings are for personal use only, alas, because they are of works not in the public domain -- The Fellowship of the Ring, The Hobbit, The Bagthorpe Saga, the Junie B. Jones books, Paddington Bear, etc. -- and the recordings are full of bedtime chit-chat, heheh. I'm so delighted to finally have an audience of more than one!

I was homeschooled myself, and spent most of my childhood reading. My dad was a wonderful reader and read to us every night -- The Lord of the Rings, Dracula, Susan Cooper, Treasure Island... anything he loved and thought would interest us. He died last February after a long illness during which rented audiobooks (from Recorded Books, Inc) were a source of great joy to him. If he were still here, he'd be thrilled by this project and I know he'd be proud of me for being a librivox reader :)

Like Gord, I'm really enjoying being a part of the Librivox team. You all are so pleasant! I wouldn't be here if it weren't so much fun :)

Who's next?
