Hello everyone,
I've wanted to volunteer ever since I heard about this, but hadn't found the gumption yet. Now I'm here... but a bit challenged by the tech end. I'm even finding the forum format intimidating as it's something I have no experience with. I've downloaded Audacity... Do I have a built-in mic? How do I know? There you have it, my questions at first blush.

Welcome to Librivox! Yes it can be a bit daunting at first but once you start, you will be addicted.

Have a look at this:

Buit in internal mics are not all that good as the quality generally sucks. A lot of us use the Logitech 250 or 350 USB mic. It connects through USB so bypasses the sound card and produces a relatively clean recording.

The first rule here to have fun!

Welcome Heidi!

A great place to start learning is in
Here you will find the collected wisdom of Librivoxers dating back to its misty beginnings among the Hoary Wise Ones. Keep asking questions, because there are so many helpful people here, with all kinds of experience and enthusiasms. If you have a newish iMac, I can tell you where the mike is. If not, I'm lost too. :)

Hi everyone,
Well, I finally did it. I also have wanted to do this for a while but never got around to it. I am a bit scared about the newness of it all but I am looking forward to it. :D

Looking forward to getting started.
