Hi everyone!
My name is Kaitlyn. I'm excited to be here! I've played with the thought of reading for Librivox for a couple years. I am a 24 year old who has had the pleasure to enjoy listening to books on Librivox for many many years. I believe I first discovered Librivox through archive.org when I would search for out of print books online. I was delighted to find so many books I enjoyed were available to listen to for free through Librivox. I enjoy reading and listening to audiobooks, but as I have grown older, sitting down to read has become harder to do because of all my time commitments. However, at this point in my life, I am at a point where life is not going 100mph, and I have time to read again. I would like to use this time to read books for Librivox so that people who have been in my situation - which so many of us are - may enjoy books I love and enjoy but which are not available yet.
Fun fact: Even though I was born and raised in the South US, I do not have much of a Southern accent if any at all as my many friends from elsewhere inform me. Will you be able to detect an accent? lol

Hello Kaitlyn and welcome to LibriVox!
Everyone has a southern accent - we are all south of something!
Seriously though, you may want to start with the 1 minute test and the listeners wanted thread:

I use Linux. I also like penguins.

Welcome Kaitlyn. You (yes YOU!) are invited to the BEGINNERS ZOOM LIVRIVOX GROUP, Monday, Jan 3, 2022. Join in either or both of two sessions and talk with other LibriVox old timers and newbies; ask questions, and chit chat. Tell us about yourself and your pets. First Monday of the month.

11 am & 11 pm Central time USA. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/8840814632

I've made a little video to welcome people; It has some basic info about us that I thought might be helpful to know right at the start. In any case ask lots of questions, we are a helpful bunch here and you will fit right in. https://youtu.be/mwtn_2d3_qs
Oh and Maria, our LibriVox pickle, can hardly contain her excitement Image

Thank you so much! Yes I did the test and have been approved. (https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/onemintest_aspiringphilothea.mp3) That's funny that you say we are all South of something... Maybe not if you lived in the northernmost parts of the world like Canada and Russia, etc.
