I've read aloud to family and friends for decades.
I'm about to retire and have decided reading for LibriVox will be a good, productive use of my new free time.
I have an unusual, mature voice that is instantly recognizable and very pleasant to listeners. I am able to read long, complex sentences so they make sense to the listener.
My voice is clear and without accent (I'm originally from the Midwest) though I can do a southern accent well.
My first challenge is figuring out how to use Audacity!
If any of you have a simple trick to help me I'd appreciate it.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hello Kate! We at LibriVox hope that you have many happy recordings! Audacity is a powerful piece of software with many tricks. I suppose that the first one might be the 1 minute test at:

Welcome!
I use Linux. I also like penguins.

Any ideas how I check my microphone volume and increase it?
Thanks,
