Hey Howdy! My name is Joe and I'm new here (kinda redundant, but whatever).
I have never participated in an online forum or recorded books before. I have however done a little reading in person to my mother, grandmother, and a girl I dated for a bit. I am familiar with the recording process (musical things), microphones, DAWs and the like so I should fair decently in that area.
What is the best way to get going on this LibriVox thing? I'd like to record a solo book before long, but I figure I should get my feet wet first. Maybe a couple poems or a short story would be a good start? I'd like a little input on making a strong start in this community and recording.
Thanks,
Joe Crafts

Hi Joe and a big Welcome to LibriVox! You will enjoy being creative here as well as having fun. I've made a little video to welcome people; It has some basic info about us that I thought might be helpful to know right at the start. In any case ask lots of questions, we are a helpful bunch here and you will fit right in. https://youtu.be/mwtn_2d3_qs
Oh and Maria, our LibriVox pickle, can hardly contain her excitement
To get going quickly, I have another video which will walk you though the steps from just starting all the way to recording your first section. And get you recording quickly!! This video has links to each step. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKLWam9cfVo&t=74s Just skip the ones that you know how to do already.

Howdy, Joe! π
What a good idea to join the forum! Now you know much more not only about the audio-recording but also about the beekeeping)
Have fun!
