My copy here at home is clean. That sure is weird. I just tried reuploading the file through mediafire. Let me know if this one is better.

Hi Pippa... what you uploaded was the audacity project file (.aup). To get an mp3, you need to Export the file as an mp3 from audacity: it's one of the options on the file menu - if you're using the 1.2 version, it'll be File -> Export as mp3; if you're using the 1.3 beta version, it'll be File -> Export, and then in the save box there's a little pull down menu at the bottom where you select mp3.

If you haven't exported before, you may yet need to set up the lame encoder plug-in. There are instructions on how to do that here: http://librivox.org/wiki/moin.cgi/Audacity

The first couple of recordings are always the most complicated, until you get the application and settings figured out. :)

Karen, I just listened to my poems in the magic box and there is a sort of 'herky-jerky' problem with the sound. These are still on my hard drive and are clean. I wonder if the problem is happening during the upload? This poetry collection along with the one just before it are the only times this has happened. Should I try uploading directly to your server?

Thanks!

That's weird. They sounded fine before I uploaded them.

I'll PM you the ftp login info for my server, and we'll try that.

I'm working on this, Karen. The only time I've used ftp was directly from the hard drive. I'm looking at the tutorial now.

There's still a problem with Barter... it's showing to be only an 87kb file (as a comparison, Jacob is 654kb).
