Hey, are there any musician in the group that would be interested in making some music for this project? I'm going to add in some sound effects, which I can do on my own, but I am no musician.

If we don't get a music director, then I'll proceed without, but it would make this an even better project if we did. (Music director will of course get credit) Can be a different music director for each section as well, if more than one is willing, but not able to do the entire thing.

Thanks guys,

Jason

Just as a note: We don't generally encourage music in LibriVox recordings, mostly because it's very difficult to establish PD status of the music itself and/or of recordings thereof. (E.g. Beethoven's 9th is in the public domain, or an edition of it published prior to 1923 is, but all commercial recordings of it are NOT!)

This doesn't mean that you are strictly forbidden, but please please please make sure that any music you put in follows the guidelines outlined here:

http://librivox.org/wiki/moin.cgi/MusicRules

Thanks very much!

oh... I'd expect the music director (if we did this) to either use some of the limited PD music available, or produce it themselves. I was really interested in the bit of Opera, but I think this will be much harder as we would need to find someone(s) that know how to sing opera.... I will look over the music rules as well. Thanks for pointing them out.

There's a really great site: http://musopen.com/ which has recordings of classical music that have been specifically lifted to the public domain. I don't know if they've got any opera, but you can give it a look. :)

I sing, but am not particularly operatic.

Thanks Belinda! Glad this project is moving along! I hope to add the sound effects to Chapter 18 by Christmas so that we will have one chapter finished.

Thanks,

Jason

Here's the part of Sally for chapter two: http://upload.librivox.org/share/uploads/200712/pimpernel_SALLY_02_orczy.mp3.mp3

It's about 54 seconds long.
This too shall pass
