The Georgics: A Poem of the Land, by Virgil (70 BCE - 19 BCE), translated by James Rhoades (1841 - 1923)
The Georgics is a poem by Latin poet Virgil, likely published in 29 BCE. As the name suggests, the subject of the poem is agriculture; but far from being an example of peaceful rural poetry, it is a work characterized by tensions in both theme and purpose. The Georgics is considered Virgil's second major work, following his Eclogues and preceding the Aeneid. The poem draws on a variety of prior sources and has influenced many later authors from antiquity to the present. (Summary by Wikipedia)

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hello, jikker! I can set this one up for you, I will be back in a minute.

Edit: so, I am a bit confused. Your post says the translator is Fenton Johnson. But the text you linked is to James Rhoades' translation. I was unable to find a translation by Fenton Johnson. Could you clarify? Thanks!

I mistakenly entered Fenton Johnson, I changed it later to Rhoades but it seems it did not update throughout. Rhoades is the proper translator. Should I redo the post?

Oh, ok! No need, I can easily change it.

Edit: your project is in the database. As a soloist, you are also responsible for filling in your window. If you need some information about it, here is a small guide: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Soloists:_How_to_update_the_Magic_Window

Let's stay here in the Launchpad to see if we find a PLer. :)

Hi, I'm new here, but I've read the wiki and also been looking around for some time, I would like to DPL this one, if you're okay with it.

Sure, thanks! I have added you as DPLer, which means you should have access to the window as well. You will be responsible for marking sections as PL OK, or PL notes, in the window. More information on how to update the window at http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Soloists:_How_to_update_the_Magic_Window But if you have any doubt, please ask!

Hello! I see you added the first section to the window. Please, whenever you do, post also in the thread. That way, we know the project is still active. Also, please add to the notes section in the window the length of your recording.
