Ok. I'll probably PL the one today.

I saw the notification of a post and thought "whoa, that girl is on a roll" It's actually just the opposite.

Chapter 9 is uploading now.

"London" where the slave walked to, was about 15 miles SW of Lynchburg, VA.
"Charlotte, NY" is apparently now a neighborhood in Rochester.

First listen to my song, and be sure it's halfway decent. Then you can read the lyrics and hear a good version of the whole song, here: http://www.wtv-zone.com/phyrst/audio/nfld/30/cake.htm

You probably won't be listening right away, but chapter 11 is up now. Chapter 12 will be up shortly.

Chapter 12 talks about the Fenians. These were Irish independence fighters.
The word Fenian (/ˈfiːniən/) served as an umbrella term for the Irish Republican Brotherhood (IRB) and their affiliate in the United States, the Fenian Brotherhood, secret political organisations in the late 19th and early 20th century dedicated to the establishment of an independent Irish Republic. In 1867 they sought to coordinate raids into Canada from the United States with a rising in Ireland.[1][2] In the 1916 Easter Rising and the 1919-1921 Irish War of Independence, the IRB led the republican struggle.

13 and 14 are up or are soon to be. :) More "modern" (to the author) stuff in these two chapters, more about social and political issues.

"Waterloo" and "Berlin" - the "Berlin" referred to here had its name changed to Kitchener. Per Wikipedia: "The city of Berlin, Ontario, changed its name to Kitchener by referendum in May and June 1916. Named in 1833 after the capital of Prussia and later the German Empire, the name Berlin became unsavoury for residents after Great Britain and Canada's entry into the First World War."

Time to start thinking about what's next! Am I ready to tackle another Pansy? :hmm:

Chapters 11- 14 PL OK

Thanks for a good afternoon. I actually listened to these twice .... just because they ran out while I was working. :)

There would be so much to discuss or at least comment on if we were together.

Chapter 15 uploading. Give it maybe 20 minutes to fully upload.

Quick web search gives (for the USA), $1 in 1880 is about $26.82 in 2020. So the $3 per head is about $80.

"Were I an M.P. or an M.P.P., or possibly a Cabinet Minister (with or without a portfolio)" -
MP = Minister of Parliament (like a member of the House of Representatives).
MPP = Minister of the Provincial Parliament.
"with a portfolio" - an MP or MPP with a head responsibility on the cabinet, such as the Minister of Finance, Minister of Defense, etc.
