Hello Tess.
Thank you for submitting your first recording HERE. I've entered you into the catalog.
As to your recording, Checker reports: Volume 74.5 dB Librivox files need to be within the range of 86-92, with a preferred volume of 89.
Remedy: In Audacity, you can select the whole file, go Effect/Amplify/15, and it will safely bring the volume up to 89dB. Your background noise will then be amplified too, so I recommend you first deal with that. You have a quiet space at the front of your file of about 1 second (can't use back 5 seconds because that is real silence). Select the front second (minus the thump), Control C to copy. Then place cursor in the middle of that 1st second. Control V to paste, do this twice. This will give you 3 seconds of "silence". Now copy that 3 seconds, go Effect/Noise Reduction/Get Profile. Then select the whole poem (Control A), and go Effect/Noise Reduction/ set settings to 12/6/3/Reduce, and hit OK.
This gives you a nice sounding poem, which is very well read.
TIP: In future recordings, adjust your volume in advance, on the mike and on the Audacity screen Volume slider, until you achieve close to 89 dB on each recording.

You are welcome. It is always fun to BC a poetry project, connect with old friends and meet new ones. The cover is ready to go also.
