if you mean you want to quote my post, simply press the quotation marks on my post, then the text is repeated in your post.
great, I'll make the switch then and bookmark you for 3. It's is a wiser choice to start small. That story is actually a wonderfully short part for a beginner's text to learn the ropes of editing. You will have much less frustration and a faster sense of achievement with this onePer your guidance, maybe I could do section 5 instead of section 3 (after I complete the 1 minute test)? I will do the test and upload today.
thank you, Adrian, lovely to have you read in the Rover magazine. I simply love these stories Yes, I made a switch and reserved Section 5 now for our new volunteer Adam, but you are signed up for 6, thanks !adrianstephens wrote: ↑June 4th, 2021, 11:57 pm May I take sections 5 & 6, or just 6 if 5 has already been assigned? Thank you.
Kitty wrote: ↑June 3rd, 2021, 11:56 pmhello Kathleen and also a big welcome to you. Two new readers in this project, how nice, I always like to hear new voices.
I see you just passed your test, so your settings should be good to go. And you also chose a very short section as first try, so this is a perfect way to test the waters.
I assigned you Section 8 officially and here is your personal reader page: https://librivox.org/reader/16302. If you prefer another reader name, like your real name or another pseudonym, just let me know and I can still change that.
Since you are new to recording, please read the first post very carefully, you will find all the details on how to say the full intro disclaimer, the outro and how to correctly name the finished file. Please be also aware that you have the final section in the project, so you also need to read the end-of-book disclaimer.
If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Happy recording and thank you for your interest in this project.
Sonia
so, your test is approved and here is your personal reader page, where all your projects will be listed: https://librivox.org/reader/16308
I guess you can take on such a long chapter. I hope you manage to keep it under 74 minutes. I think it will be a pretty long one. Let's hope we don't have to split it.
I listened to your section right away, as I'm sure you were eager to get feedback and anyway the section was very short.kathleenx wrote: ↑June 5th, 2021, 9:09 amHere's my recording for Section 8:

Well, what can I say: it was a treat to listen to your voice, I really really enjoyed it. Your voice and cadence was perfect for this final advertising word for the magazine (it would have incited me to buy it back in the time )
A wonderful recording and totally PL ok. Congrats on your first section, and hopefully you liked the recording and editing process, so there will be plenty more soon. Maybe I'll hear you in another project along the way.
Now if I may give a little word of advice for the future, though you needn't change it for this recording:
> from 0:26 to 0:29: I always suggest cutting silent breaks, even between paragraphs, to under 2 seconds. 1 to 1.5 maximum is usually fully enough, anything over 2 seconds feels very long for a listener waiting for the action to continue.
> at the end we usually want a standard of 5 seconds of silence. You have around 4 seconds, and I won't be picky here because the rest was totally fine, but only make sure you will not make it even shorter than that in your next recordings
> when you post a link, please always include the length of the file (see the previous posts by Scotty and Jim for an example here).
That's it It was a wonderful start, keep them coming.
Thank you
