The Christian Commonwealth, by John Eliot (1604 - 1690)

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-christian-commonwealth-by-john-eliot/
John Eliot, a North American missionary, advocates for post-civil-war England to adopt a representative democracy, using the Mosaic Law as a model. (Summary by Aaron Decker)
Source text (please read only from this text!): https://digitalcommons.unl.edu/libraryscience/19/

Target completion date: 2021-07-31

Prooflistening level: Standard
Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I'll be glad to set this up for you. Be right back with the MW.

Update: First, let me double-check with my colleagues about this source.

The MW is up. We can use this source, but please be sure to read only the text by John Eliot, and not the modern text by the editor.

I've kept only one digit in the filename, since the total is fewer than 10. We'll stay on the launch pad for a couple of days to see if we find a DPL before moving to Going Solo. Let me know if you have any questions.

What a nice little book!

The preface is PL OK.

Section 1 has just a few notes:

at 10:09 a repeat - 'and maketh thrice'
at 30:11 a repeat - 'and particularly...and particular'
at 36:30 a repeat - 'and two hundreds...and two orders'

Awesome, thanks :)

Is there any way we can get a book cover image on there?
Something like the Wikipedia portrait of John Eliot might work well: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Portrait_of_John_Eliot.jpg .

We have a separate workflow for covers, described here:

https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/CD_Covers

In a nutshell, every cover for a newly cataloged project is "claimed" by a volunteer cover-maker, who has artistic control over its design. As soloist, you can make a pre-claim to make a cover for your project before it is cataloged, by posting in this thread. It's too late to pre-claim this one, but if you act quickly you can still claim it as described on the wiki page.
