I'm going to ask a potentially silly question, if you don't mind indulging me...
You've identified that I didn't quite hit the mark with the opening and closing silence lengths. Am I correct now in understanding that these are prescriptive lenghts, and not minimum lengths?
To give context to my approach, I think I left more space than required 'just in case' and didn't think too much more about it. So it wasn't a carefully considered decision at all

Hi Luke, back in 'the old days' of LibriVox, the mp3 players of the day would tend to cut off the ends of files, hence the 5 second ending (it used to be 10 seconds for 30+ minute files) ...too much beginning silence might panic listeners into thinking there was something wrong.
