A Japanese Boy, by Shigemi Shiukichi (1865 - 1928)
The life of a Japanese boy in the late 1800's and early 1900's, told simply and beautifully. This isn't about civilizations and governments, but about what it was like to be a child in a small seaport town called Imabari, which is situated on the western coast of the island of Shikoku. If you wish to learn more about life for a normal family in Japan in these times, this book is a wonderful introduction. The author does not embellish but just describes the daily life of a boy; playing, home, eating and school. (Summary by phil chenevert )

Hi Phil,

Section 3 is PL OK!

FYI, I heard a difference in the intro for Section 1, from that of Sections 2 and 3. The Section 1 intro begins: "Section 1 of ...", while Sections 2 and 3 begin "Chapters 3 and 4 of ..." and "Chapters 5 and 6 of ..." respectively. And Chapter 2 is not identified in the intro for Section 1; first notice of it is well along in the recording for that Section.

I wasn't sure if the differences were intentional or not, so figured I should bring it to your attention.

Thank you,

Thank you,
I apologize for the differences. After much thought I have decided to record each chapter as a separate section and did not tell you. This does not mean more work for you. I will simply be changing it so each chapter is a stand alone one whcih seems to make more sense to me now. I will be doing this tonight or tomorrow morning so youwill see all14 chapters shown in the magic window. Sorry again for any inconvenience.

Section 7 PL Notes:

@00:10 - The Chapter 6 title(s) ("Amateur Actors and Real Actors and Actresses—Japanese Theatre") were read instead of those for Chapter 7 ("Wrestling- Story Tellers-Picnic and Picnic Grounds—An Old Castle Tradition")
