Chapter 16 - A Robber Meeting - See PL notes

Again, the silence at the beginning of the chapter is less than 1/2 second. This time - since I'm asking for two other fixes - I'll ask you to edit in a bit of silence. That's easy in Audacity: open the chapter, press 'J' to go to the very beginning, select Generate... Silence... Audacity will ask how much silence you want - set it to 00.1 seconds and hit OK.o

At about 26 seconds (in Billy Mink's little opening poem) you read "Is... is, to say.." Please edit out the first "Is".

At about 31 seconds I hear "It was the night - It was night..." Please edit out the first "It was the night".

As a note, at about 2:00 I hear the quiet double thump, just like chapter 15. No fix is needed on this, but it's something to try to avoid in future recordings.

And once again, there is no need to read the chapter title at the end of the recording - just "End of Chapter 16" would be fine.

Chapter 17 - The Robbers Decide to Fight - See PL notes.

The silence at the beginning is over 1.5 seconds. This should be edited down to between .5 second and a second.

At about 1:55 I hear "Dogs and cats do not fear" but the text reads "Cats and dogs you do not fear" - that's a substantial change in the story line, and should be fixed. I recommend re-recording the whole sentence - Cats and Dogs you do not fear, because you can go where they cannot follow. - and editing that in, because shorter fixes often stand out as an edit.

I like the voice you used for the old fighter rat near the end of the chapter.

In all three of these chapters your overall volume was near the middle of the LibriVox range. Some of the loudest spots in the recordings came close to the maximum (0 dB), but your voice never got all the way there, so no clipping sounds - good job.

Chapter 9 - Bobby Coon Gets A Fright - PL OK.

At 3:00 you say "there was a wicked sounding SNAP" and on SNAP you really puff into the mic. I guess that counts as a sound effect you made with your voice - lol!

Except you have your work recording at the end (after the 5 second pause). I listened to where it's edited into the chapter and that's fine.

Heather -
Chapters 10 and 11 are both PL OK. The extra audio at the end of chapter 9 remains to be snipped off, and then you'll be all set.
Thanks for the chapters.

Thank you twice!
Chapter 16 - A Robber Meeting - PL OK
Chapter 17 - The Robbers Decide To Fight - PL OK

A note: in chapter 17 at around 1:37 you are projecting a bit more than the rest of the chapter (where you say "Never in their lives") - I can hear a bit of echo in the room at this point. This is why some of the more fussy LibriVox readers start hanging blankets around their recording area or start recording in a closet full of heavy coats. That's something you can be aware of but not worry too much unless/until you start getting fussy. This tiny bit of echo doesn't interfere with the intelligibility of the reading so I can happily endorse these two chapters.

With these two chapters Billy Mink is ready to publish. Thanks to all our readers and thanks to Larry for bringing this fine story to us.
