PL Notes for Chapter 6

There needs to be 0.5-1 second of silence (room tone) at the beginning. Currently there's a lot of clicks and background noise before you begin.
There needs to be 5 seconds of silence (room tone) at the end. Currently the recording ends abruptly after your last spoken word.
Beginning at 7:14 and continuing through to approx 9:00 there is loud background noise.
The photo caption “Senator Stephen A. Douglas, Lincoln’s great rival” read at 18:21 can be removed.
"I've always talked to myself, now I just hit record beforehand..."

Please advise if there are technical issues -- I didn't hear any; however I did some cut/paste like I've never done before.
Love this book -- thanks for letting me be a part of this project.

I realized I forgot to Normalize. When I did it AFTER THE FACT on my end with my backup copy, it also made mp3 come in at 89.5dB
I'll wait for PL report. Thanks.

PL Note for Chapter 13

The reading was great Becky! The only thing to change on your recording is the length of silence (room tone) at the end. Currently there is over 30 seconds and it only needs to be 5.

I have a question about Chapter 7 - there's a part that I'm not sure how to narrate, and I don't know if there are any established Librivox guidelines for it. I apologize in advance if there's already an answer to this type of question elsewhere in the forums, I wasn't able to find one.

Towards the end of the chapter (about 4 paragraphs from the end) there is a paragraph that begins with "Miss Tarbell gives this picture of Lincoln by his friend, Judge Dickey". The following paragraph is a quoted excerpt of a work by another author, Ida Tarbell. This itself contains quotes of a conversation between Dickey and Lincoln.

How should I narrate this? Should I start the excerpt with the word "quote" and end it with "endquote"? Would a longer-than-normal pause before and/or after the excerpt suffice?

Thanks-
Granville

Granville,
There are no established guidelines. We leave it up to the reader. Many folks will simply leave a pause before and after, but in situations where folks think that would still not be clear, they can say quote/end quote. It's up to you.
