A good batch of poems.

PL OK.

Hi Erin,

Section 20: Since it's Horace, I would make the c in "Dulce" hard.

Sections 27, 28, 30 PL OK.

Pam, that's fab. I'm sorry to give you extra work, but I really appreciate your expertise. I haven't been able to find a good Latin pronunciation site, and even when I do find a more famous phrase like this, it's usually pronounced with a plummy RP accent. I'll get it fixed!

Hi Pam,

Section 20 is ready for spot PL of the intro. Time is unchanged.

Sections 29 and 31-34 are ready for PL. In the original publication section 32 was the last poem, so everything else you're PLing is a bonus!

I am sorry to have to ask, but for the last poem, 'Finis', which pronunciation would you use? My usual sites have given me three different ones:
-FEE-nis (sounds almost like a mythical phoenix)
-FIN-nis (like a fish's fin)
-FIE-nis (fie upon these multiple choice pronunciations)

Hi Erin,

Sections 20, 29, 31-34 are PL OK.

Latin vowels are problematic for me, too. The latin speakers on Forvo tend to make them all long, but according to Collins Latin, only the initial "i" has a long vowel macron, so I think "finis" rhymes with "penis."

Hi Pam,

Thanks, that helps and I'm confident that you know what you're doing! I guess with some imported words and phrases certain pronunciations become acceptable and even correct, but if I can get the Latin that's an excellent thing.

This batch is unexpectedly large, but there's no hurry (and I mean it!) because I need to redo something anyway. I thought I'd have to re-record far more of these and you'd have more balanced PLing jobs in the last couple of uploads, but that's not been the case. Do whatever, whenever, and leave some until the next upload if you like.

Thank you very much, Pam! You've saved me from myself with the Latin titles to boot.

Lynne, this project is ready to be catalogued!

There seems to be something missing - there is no etext link down the side of the LV page and the sections have a link which they may not need and doesn't work (I was looking for cover inspiration) . I take it she doesn't have a wiki page ?

added - not that it will help me - it's not available to me
