The Time Machine, by H. G. Wells (1866 - 1946)

This project is now in our catalog at https://librivox.org/the-time-machine-version-7-by-h-g-wells/
The story follows a Victorian scientist, who claims that he has invented a device that enables him to travel through time, and has visited the future. There, he finds the human species has “evolved” into two distinct forms. Above ground live the Eloi—gentle, fairy-like, childish creatures, whose existence appears to be free of struggle. However, another race of beings exists—the Morlocks, underground dwellers who, once subservient, now prey on the feeble, defenseless Eloi. (Summary by Cliff Stone)
Source text (please read only from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/35

Target completion date: 2021-07-31

Prooflistening level: Standard
Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

We're not back from the moon yet, but I'd be glad to join you as DPL again.
On the road again, so delays are possible

I've added version 7 to the title on the project page. You don't have to mention the version in the recording - some people do put a 7 in the file name like timemachine7_01 etc but it's not essential - we won't mix the files unless someone else starts one before you finish but I suppose if someone downloaded more than 1 version they could get confused.

Just a note. As a soloist you only need to post the link in the magic window and then say so in the project thread to let the DPL know about it. It doesn't hurt anything, just may save you a bit of work. You are really moving along on this story! :D

First three chapters are PL OK.
Now ready for the story . . . .

But, jumping between your solos feels like time traveling.
