Citadel of Lost Ships, by Leigh Douglass Brackett (1915 - 1978)

This project can now be found in our catalog at https://librivox.org/citadel-of-lost-ships-by-leigh-douglass-brackett/

Volunteers outside the USA: Leigh Douglass Brackett died in 1978. This person's work may still be protected by copyright in countries where copyright duration is determined by the author's death date. In Europe this is 70 years; in Canada it is 50 years; and in Australia it is 70 years for authors who died after 1955.
"It was a Gypsy world, built of space flotsam, peopled with the few free races of the Solar System. Roy Campbell, outcast prey of the
Coalition, entered its depths to seek haven for the Kraylens of Venus—only to find that it had become a slave trap from which there was no escape." A cool story first published in Planet Stories March 1943. (Summary by the publisher)

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Dear Phil, I beg your pardon! Excited by the possibiliy to collaborate with you, I missed this disclaimer. Being Ukrainian copyright law 70+ years, I`m afraid I can`t work with this text.
Excuse my fault and please cancel my DPLing from here. 😔

Thanks Mark. It's not long and won't take you long unless there are a ton of problems. I just cataloged the best story by Brackett I've ever read: Lorelei of the Red Mist. Started by her and finished by Ray Bradbury. Really a cool read!

15:41 - 'could stand on his own feet and breathe' sounds like 'could stand on his own free and breathe'
30:26 - Noise
30:53 - 'Roy Campbell called himself a short, bitter name' Roy is missing
