Thank you Christina, just a couple of minor technical issues.

Opening silence is almost 3 seconds should be about 1 second

Ending silence is about 7 seconds should be about 5 seconds

Can you shorten these to the correct length and resubmit?

Everything else is great, Good job with the voices and sound effect for the Nestor's "accident"

James.

Here is the revised version.
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/ssf078_thegun_dick_rf_128kb.mp3
time: 30:13

Thanks, Rohan

Rohan, you still have a technical issues. The volume is low at 85.4 should be between 86 and 92db

Your editing is a little over aggressive.

* Example "The Gun" both times in your opening statement, has only half of the T sound, additionally it seems like you copied and pasted it into both places as they both have the same clipped sound.

* Example 1:09 - 1:11 The book says "He saw a vast expanse" your recording says "ast expanse"

* Example 1:46 - 1:48 The book says ""I wonder what the atmospheric sample will show," your recording says ""hat the atmospheric sample will show,"

The missing words, and sentences starting in the middle of a word, make this difficult to listen to.

Please proof listen your submission, and correct these and any other glaring errors before submitting.

I did not proof listen beyond 1:48

James
Sorry for taking so long, here is the new version
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/ssf078_thegun_dick_rf_128kb.mp3
time: 30:05
I fixed the editing and made it louder but I am not sure how to see the volume in decibels. Hopefully it is loud enough now.

Thanks, Rohan
Thanks Rohan,

I used checker and all your technical parts are correct.

You can read here about Checker https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Checker and download it for yourself, I used it for my own recordings before submitting them and I use to check works I am PLing, you can check your recording before submitting.

I will PL soon.

This is my first recording for Librivox (and I do apologize for not waiting for feedback from my 1-minute test - enthusiasm got the better of me I'm afraid).

The file (recorded with Audacity/win10/USB mic) was passed by Checker and has been noise-reduced and cleaned up for clicks, pops and spacing.

For the Librivox catalog, Chris James (my name) is fine.

I'm looking forward to feedback and how to improve.

Many thanks,

Chris
Hi Chris, Thanks for your recording.

I downloaded it and checked the technical specs, they are fine.

You were the second one to submit this story, your version will be in next collection. Amy will tell you about that.

I will PL soon.

Hi Chris,
I added you to the catalog. You are all set with that. James is prooflistening your story. The only thing is that this is the second version of the story for this collection. We only have one per collection. I will save this one for Collection 079. If you have another story you want to record there is still time to get one in this one.
Thanks!

I am ready to upload for this collection, but before I do, I have one newbie question.
Nevermind...I figured it out.

Hi Jeffrey,
I bet the author never read it out loud. Things like peculiarly always get me.
Thanks for your story!

Hello! I've recorded a selection for this collection.

It's called "The Hunters" by Joseph Samachson, but he wrote it under the pen name William Morrison so that's what I elected to record as the credits, but can change if needed.
