REDSKIN AND COW-BOY: A TALE OF THE WESTERN PLAINS, by G. A. Henty (1832 - 1902)

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/redskin-and-cow-boy-by-g-a-henty/
The central interest of this story is found in the many adventures of an English lad who seeks employment as a cowboy on a cattle ranch. His experiences during a "roundup" present in picturesque form the toilsome, exciting, adventurous life of a cowboy; while the perils of a frontier settlement are vividly set forth in an Indian raid, accompanied by pillage, capture, and recapture. The story is packed full of breezy adventure. (Summary by )

If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

MW coming up.

edit: I shortened the filenames. Long ones create issues. The book title is in "caps." I would suggest, "Redskin and Cow-Boy: A Tale of the Western Plains."

Thank you, Craig. This is only my second solo, so I'm still learning the ropes. I don't know how to go back and edit the title. Can you point me in the right direction?

The information used in cataloging is on the Project Screen page. Click on BC Admin (just below the MW) and then click on "Project Screen" (above the table) and the Project Screen page appears. Make the change and don't forget to save the change (at bottom of page). If you are denied access let me know and I'll make the change. I really just wanted your okay.

It tells me I don’t have access to do that. Feel free to make the change, and thank you.

Preface and Chapter 1 are up. These chapters are long, and I had to record chapter 1 in two different sessions, in two different rooms of the house. Please let me know if you hear a tone change or anything distracting that suggests I need to be more careful when I have to split a session.

I also want to know if the accent is too distracting. I can't do an English accent, but as I come from a redneck family, the cowboy talk came pretty naturally to me.

These sound great! Preface and chapter 1 PL okay! I can’t tell where you switched rooms at all, so I would stick with whatever you did for that recording if you have to move again.

I do like the accents you are using a lot. I think they are fun. The thing I would watch out for on future chapters is to make sure you are staying consistent with the accent when people have long lines or across multiple different lines by the same character throughout a chapter.

Thanks for the advice. It shouldn't be too hard since it's the same accent for both American cowboys and my own voice for the Brit.

I'm a little concerned about background noise in chapter 3. Let me know.

RUN HUGH, RUN!!!

Chapter 2:
14:41 “the notorious bully” I am hearing “Billy”
26:21 the text reads “he returned late in the evening to his tent” but I am hearing “afternoon” which normally would not make much difference, except I think it will be less confusing given the context of him drinking half the night away.

Chapter 3:
I didn’t think the background noise was bad at all. Very minor and I only briefly noticed it a couple times. PL okay.

P. S. I am going to do my best not to go AWOL on you, but work is a little crazy the next couple of weeks. If I get behind I should be able to catch up the second half of April!
