Canada and Newfoundland by Frank G. Carpenter (1855 - 1924). (MAS)

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/canada-and-newfoundland-by-frank-g-carpenter/

Another entry in Carpenter's series of World Travels focusing on Canada and Newfoundland. ( Betty B)
  1. Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/canadanewfoundla0000carp/n11/mode/2up
  2. Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

    • Say:

For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
    • "Chapter [number] of Canada and Newfoundland by Frank G. Carpenter. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain."
    • If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
    • Only if applicable, say:
      "[Chapter title]"
    END of recording:
    • At the end of the section, say:

There should be ~5 seconds silence at the end of the recording.

Oh sure Betty! I'm sorry, I didn't realize that you were that far ahead of me.
I'll set aside some time to listen ... that means I need to put down school books and take up a craft. :9:
It will be a nice break.

Betty,

Please check 20 at 15.07. The pause made me look up. Not sure it needs any change, but wanted to point it out so you could decide.

Same for 21 at 6.45.

Deleted 1/2 second in both 20 and 21 so they would read better. Uploaded and marked PL OK.

OK.

24 and 25 were switched in the MW. I've fixed them.

On 24, please check at about 1.53 for a repeat of "in round numbers ..."

My goodness you have been busy!!

I like the cover very much I was going to tell you that the book has many illustrations but none of them seem to capture the gist of the book. The only one i thought might work is next to the title page. It is in black and white. Not knowing anything about cover-making I don't know if this would work. But I think yours feels like the book.

Could you add a Mountie or a miner?

Glad you like the cover ... thought about adding a beaver, or a gopher, but then thought better of it ...
