The Progressive Woman, Vol. VII, No. 75 (October 1913) by Josephine Conger-Keneko, Editor (1874 - unknown).

This project is now complete.  All audio files can be found on our catalog page here:

https://librivox.org/the-progressive-woman-vol-vii-no-75-october-1913-by-various/

A Monthly Magazine of aspiration devoted to the economic and political interests of women. (KevinS)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/socialist-woman/131000-progressivewoman-v7w75.pdf
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

    Magic Window:

    START of recording (Intro):
    • "Section[number] of The Progressive Woman, Vol. VII, No. 75 (October 1913). This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org"

    • Say:
"The Progressive Woman, Vol. VII, No. 75 (October 1913), Josephine Conger-Keneko, Editor. [Section title by author]"

For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
    • "Section [number] of The Progressive Woman, Vol. VII, No. 75 (October 1913). This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain."
    • If you wish, say:
      "Recording by [your name], [city]"

      "[Section title by author]"
    END of recording:
    • At the end of the section, say:
      "End of [Section]"
    • If you wish, say (if you haven't already included this in the intro):
      "Recording by [your name], [city]"
    • At the end of the book, say (in addition):
"End of The Progressive Woman, Vol. VII, No. 75 (October 1913), Josephine Conger-Keneko, Editor. "

There should be ~5 seconds silence at the end of the recording.

I hope I've done this well enough. There are numerous authors of various small articles and announcements. It looks like Ms. Conger-Koneko does most of the work as a writer ad the editor.

Hi Kevin. We typically would use Various as the author for a magazine with different authors contributing.

This is also available on Google Books which might be the preferred text link for the catalog.

https://books.google.com/books?id=LEauGOEvRfUC&pg=RA12-PA1&lpg=RA12-PA1&dq=the+progressive+woman+Vol.+VII,+No.+75#v=onepage&q=the%20progressive%20woman%20Vol.%20VII%2C%20No.%2075&f=false

Meanwhile, I will get this set up and MC for you.

Actually, I should thank you for pointing out Josephine Conger-Keneko to me. She compiled an anthology of works by famous women writers that is now on my list for a future project.!

Meanwhile, while you are waiting for a DPL, I've listened to the first section. Here are my PL notes

4:20 of low wages -- you say long wages
6:37 with the harem idea -- you say his harem idea

Otherwise PL OK.
