The reading is very smooth and nicely articulated, so it's easy to understand and follow along. I really like your voice, which in this case even is fitting excellently with the narrator being a sexton. A very agreeable narration and already I hope you liked the recording process and I'll hear you in plenty more projects.
There are a few notes to correct though. Since you are a new volunteer, I can assure you right away: you do not have to re-record the entire text ! In fact this is not at all encouraged on the forum as it creates way too much extra work for the reader and for the DPLer, who has to relisten to it all again and the risks of other errors in the new recording are high. Rather, "Spot Editing" is the thing to do. Saves much time, especially in long texts like these. If you need any advice on how to best spot edit, please let me know.
So here is what needs doing:

amplify by at least +2 to get to the absolute minimum, but even better +5 to get to about the optimal average of 89 dB. I noticed especially the last few minutes were really very low in volume and definitely need amplifying.

The background noise, by the way, was not disturbing to me, so your basic noisecleaning in Audacity was enough.

A great story however and wonderfully narrated, with much feeling and emphasis. I really loved to listen to it. 
so cool that you chose this project for your first official section. The stories are all quite lovely in this magazine and I adore listening to all the readers.
