Arrowsmith by Sinclair Lewis (1885 - 1951) .

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/arrowsmith-by-sinclair-lewis/
This 1926 Pulitzer Prize winning novel centers on the title character, a promising medical student who, as a doctor and following several intervening ventures, becomes a medical researcher in New York. A widespread killer plague takes him to a Caribbean island to produce and inject sera and do research. Fascinating characters, some professional, others romantic, impact his life. Striking similarities of the epidemic in this novel to the pandemic of the 2020's may today seem prophetic. The author won the 1930 Nobel Prize in literature, chiefly for "Arrowsmith". (Lee Smalley)

  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I knew I would get you on this one! Since the cut off year keeps changing, I can't keep track of when that is anymore! But, I am glad that there was a post in Book Suggestions listing all the new books for this year, and this one was on it. So awesome that this worked out!

I will move us as soon as you see what I have done. What shall we do with the other project?

The other project is completed, as you can now see.

In my rush to get this one out I omitted a couple of things. Can you insert the appropriate genre "Fiction"? I've just added the number of chapters -- 40. Fortunately they're just numbered; it would have been a chore to add 40 chapter titles! As usual I'll add the summary and keywords later. Wow, this is going to be quite a project! Thanks for your help in finding a source. :)

OK, there are now 40 sections in the MW, easy peasy. All the other stuff can be added at any point in time, so not a big deal. As far as the Pirate and Frog project, I will ask behind the scenes to see what the other admins would like us to do. I have a feeling that they will want that one section to go into a collection, but I just want to make sure before I make that decision. I personally don't mind either way, but some feel that something that short should go into a collection, which is completely searchable. I will let you know!

Chapter 3. I don't think I've bitten off more than I can chew, but I'm probably going to have a huge case of indigestion before this is over!
