  • 29:53
    • What I heard: “development on the so-called physical and on the so-called…”
    • What is written: “development on the so-called physical than on the so-called…”
    • I feel this changes the intent.
  • 42:29
    • What I heard: “Indeed, from its beginning, the process…”
    • What is written: “Indeed, from its beginnings, the process…”
    • I do not feel this changes the intent
    .
    Fabulous work. 8-)

Thank you, David! I agree with your assessment, so I fixed just the error at 29:53. Section 5 is ready for spot PL and section 6 is ready for PL.

Sorry for the delay. I hope you are not waiting on me to continue on.
  • 3:12
    • What I heard: “…is not conductive to the employment…”
    • What is written: “…is not conducive to the employment…”
    • I believe this changes the intent.
  • 8:55
    • What I heard: “…considered that the “right” remedy has not been found,”
    • What is written: “…considered that the “right” remedy had not been found,”
    • Present tense vs. past tense. Your call
  • 14:45
    • What I heard: “…throw light on many of our problems at the present time.”
    • What is written: “…throw light on many of our own problems at the present time.”
    • Possible dropped word
  • 19:22
    • What I heard: “…turn to his own use the different forces…”
    • What is written: “…turn to his own uses the different forces…”
    • Singular vs. Plural
  • 33:55
    • What I heard: “…pass on to the Christian Era, to see in what…”
    • What is written: “…pass on to the Christian Era, and see in what…”
    • Most likely not an issue
  • 36:18
    • What I heard: “…human organism into parts which have been named…”
    • What is written: “…human organism into the parts which have been named…”
    • I am undecided if this changes anything.
  • 36:31
    • What I heard: “…to develop each of these parts named soul,…”
    • What is written: “…to develop each of the three parts named soul,…”
    • He is specifically writing about these 3 parts.
You do a phenomenal job of pronouncing some of these words. Do you just know how to say them, or do you end up researching them sometimes?

Thanks, no worries! I've made changes to address the issues at 3:12, 8:55, 14:45 and 36:31, and section 7 is ready for PL.

I always have a tab open to look up pronunciations when I record. The worst is when I decide to look up a word just in case and discover that I've been pronouncing it wrong. At least this book doesn't contain much gazetteer material.

  • 4:55
    • What I heard, “in other words, the accuracy or otherwise…”
    • What is written, “in other words, that the accuracy or otherwise…”
    • Does not change intent much
  • 14:01
    • The second footnote on page 110. The one that looks like a cross or ‘t’. I do not believe you actually read the footnote. You read through page 111 and never go back to that footnote.
  • 16:12
    • What I heard, “…, the fatal defect of all such instances…”
    • What is written, “…, the fatal defect in all such instances…”
    • Possible intent change
  • 16:50
    • What I heard: You did not preface the fact that you are reading a footnote. (Is there a more polite way to say this?) Nor did you state “End of footnote.”
    • After reading the footnote, the audio begins in the middle of the next sentence. “…nor its ingenuity at a given…”
    • These are most likely just editing issues?
  • 20:21
    • What I heard, “…several others, even more harmful, will…”
    • What is written, “…several others, often more harmful, will…”
    • Possible intent change
  • 25:00
    • What I heard, The pronunciation of the word “adolescence,” with the emphasis on the second syllable. ‘dol’
    • Without having the written word in front of me, I would not have been able to figure out what word is being read.
    • My English ear is expecting the emphasis on the third syllable, “les”.
    • The only reason I bring this up is to avoid confusion for the listener.
  • 27:19
    • What I heard, “…efforts as a pupil and in all other spheres…”
    • What is written, “…efforts as a pupil in all other spheres…”
    • Added a word. Possible intent change

  • 1:54 Footnote
    • What I heard, “In this case it can be …”
    • What is written, “In this sense it can be …”
    • Intent?
  • 12:00 Footnote
    • Was this footnote skipped intentionally?
  • 16:45
    • What I heard, “…possibly be extricated, unless he stops…”
    • What is written, “…possibly be extricated, until he stops…”
    • Intent?
  • 34:37
    • What I heard, The pronunciation of the word “adolescence,” with the emphasis on the second syllable. ‘dol’
    • Without having the written word in front of me, I would not have been able to figure out what word is being read.

Thank you, David! Please let me know if any other words with misplaced stress jump out at you.

Section 8:
4:55 left as is
14:20 inserted footnote on p. 110
16:12+40" “…, the fatal defect in all such instances…”
20:21+40" “…several others, often more harmful, will…”
25:00+40" fixed "adolescence"
27:19+40" deleted "and"

Section 9:
1:54 “In this sense it can be …”
12:00 Was this footnote skipped intentionally? - Yes
16:45 left as is
34:37 fixed "adolescence"

I'm sorry. You missed one of my comments on Section 8
  • 17:30 (Updated Time-code)
    • Pg.112
    • What I heard: You did not preface the fact that you are reading a footnote. (Is there a more polite way to say this?) Nor did you state “End of footnote.”
    • After reading the footnote, the audio begins in the middle of the next sentence. “…nor its ingenuity at a given…” skipping more than a line of text.
    • These are most likely just editing issues?
We'll get this one. Everything else was great.

Ah, yes, I skipped over this item while making edits. Thanks for catching that! I had deliberately read this footnote as a parenthetical for fluency, and now I've added the missing sentence fragment.

Section 11 is ready for PL. I won't be starting the next one for a few days.
