Thanks! Well, 18th century notions of honor were rather silly sometimes.

BTW, that incident where they were scared away at the bridge is based on actual history.

Thanks! I do often tend to think about the things I wish I'd done differently, so it can be hard to listen to my own stuff and fully enjoy it (in fact, if I listen to things I recorded five or ten years ago, I often cringe, because my reading has changed so much). But I'm glad you like it! : )

Section 8 is up, and we're into Part 2. I get to sing in this one! : D

It doesn't actually say what melody should go with the lyrics, but it's pretty obviously meant to be the same melody as Robert Burns' "To Daunton Me" (there were several Jacobite songs set to that melody). The melody is definitely out of copyright--here's the sheet music for it, from James Hogg's 1821 collection: https://digital.nls.uk/special-collections-of-printed-music/archive/87819767

Hey, that's cool that you found the sheet music for the song in section 8. Looking forward to that.

Section 9 is up. Here comes the first Scots dialogue...I am making no attempt at it since I would only sound ridiculous; instead I'm toning it down as much as possible. If it says muckle or braw or something, of course I'll say that, but I say another instead of anither, to instead of tae, and who instead of wha. Hope that's fine.
