This project is now complete! All files can be found at https://librivox.org/the-harp-weaver-and-other-poems-by-edna-st-vincent-millay/

The Harp-Weaver, and Other Poems by Edna St. Vincent Millay (1892 - 1950).

Although Edna St. Vincent Millay was gaining recognition for her lyrical poems since 1920, it was winning the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1923 for "The Ballad of the Harp-Weaver" that established her career as a poet. In 1943, Millay was the sixth person and the second woman to be awarded the Frost Medal for her lifetime contribution to American poetry. ( AnnaLisa Bodtker)

  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Your window is ready! Let me know if it all looks okay to you. We will also stay around here a little, in hopes of finding a PLer, and then move to Going Solo.

Happy New Year!

Greetings Leni and Lomond!

Leni I accidentally uploaded a version missing the mp3 at the end so it may be floating around somewhere. Sorry about that!

Lomond, my friend, so glad to be working with you again! I hope you had a lovely holiday season.

Here is Part I:

Many Thanks!

Greetings -

Good to be working with you again as well, AnnaLisa.

You're off to a good start with Part I with only one thing that needs attention:

TIME: 05:45 TEXT: "Just a rainy day or two" The word "rainy" sounds more like "bainy" in the reading.

Otherwise, PL OK.

The holiday season here was a quiet one.

Greetings Lomond!

Here is the corrected Part I:
https://librivox.org/uploads/leni/harpweaver_01_millay_128kb.mp3. 8:51
and Part II:
https://librivox.org/uploads/leni/harpweaver_02_millay_128kb.mp3. 13:52

I am in awe of Lomond's Listening Laboratory! I, expecting to hear "rainy", could not hear anything but that. So I had my husband listen to the phrase and he heard "vrainy" or "frainy". So nothing to be done but record that again and now my husband hears "rainy" and hopefully you do too!

Many thanks for all you do!
AnnaLisa

Hi Lomond and Leni!

Here is Part III:
https://librivox.org/uploads/leni/harpweaver_03_millay_128kb.mp3. 8:59

Leni I was thinking maybe I should break Part IV into 2 sections since the running time will be about 45 minutes. What do you (and Lomond) think?

I appreciate all you both do!

Greetings -

I would support dividing it into two or three sections. 45 minutes is a long session for many of our listeners.

Greetings Lomond!

I over estimated how long it would take to record each poem in Part IV. The length is just under 20 minutes which is the longest I like the recording to go. So here is Part IV:
https://librivox.org/uploads/leni/harpweaver_04_millay_128kb.mp3. 19:55

As always Lomond thank you for all your hard work!

That's right Leni I didn't make myself clear. No need to break IV or V.
