Place names in Chapter 11 evoked some memories.
Pendleton, Oregon where I grew up, though not mentioned was quite a rail center. We often travelled to Idaho and one of the landmarks along the way was Huntington. Oregon, that was mentioned. Seemed to be no real town there but we were always anxious to see the remnants of an old roundhouse, long out of use even in the early 50's. Then Leadville, Colorado -- a portion still preserved as a scenic ride, high in the Rockies. We had a beautiful trip there a few years ago for a class reunion. And, speaking of Sacramento -- I had an uncle who worked many years for Union Pacific and he gave us a personal tour through the rail museum there.
Well, now I need to go look at your latest Poul Anderson book . . . .
