[solo] The Surgeon's Daughter by Sir Walter Scott (1771 - 1832).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-surgeons-daughter-by-sir-walter-scott/
The Surgeon's Daughter is an historical novel, originally part of the Chronicles of the Canongate stories, later published on its own, in 1827. ( Deon Gines)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/6428
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I'm interested in your opinion, this is our shared book. If you think they should be included in this case, let's talk about it.

The first Scott novel which I narrated had a very long (over 50 pages) preface, intro, etc., which I thought didn't contribute to the story, and might deter listeners. I've recorded the regular chapters of his books since then. It's my understanding that parts of a book can be omitted, as in this case.

Thanks for your input!

Yes, that is correct. Only the main text should be "read as written."
