I wouldn't want to burp in public! I'll check it out.

I'm not sure what caused that noise. 'Twas a strange one, to be sure. Never mind; you've fixed it. PL (again) OK. Thanks.

Thank you for your interest in this project.
We do, however, request that our new readers first complete a one-minute test recording to check out all of your technical specifications and any reading issues.

From the instructions for this, and all, projects under Point 2

New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!

Among the useful information there you will find instructions for completing your test recording. Once you have the "OK" on that post again here with your request and also let us know how you would like to be credited in the LibriVox catalog - real name, pseudonym or other nickname.

Thank you!
This is Ready for PL

Unfortunately, there was a claim posted for Chapter 5 just before this, so I've already assigned it.
But, I still have you in for Chapter 10

Chapter 9 - Lightfoot Goes Ashore - PL OK.

There is quite a lot of background noise in your recording - your voice is slightly less than 20 dB louder than the ongoing noise, so that background rumble is pretty audible in the recording. I suggest you do some noise reduction when you do Chapter 10. If you haven't done that before you can watch a howto made by Phil Chenevert here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFSg9o37HMw. (In my version of Audacity the three sliders are different from what Phil shows - I have "Noise reduction (dB)", "Sensitivity" and "Frequency smoothing (bands)" - the beginning settings Audacity comes with are pretty good, so note whatever Audacity starts you with before you start playing around; you might want to go back.) I tried the Noise Reduction effect on your chapter and improved things by about 10 dB without damaging how your voice sounds.

There is also some ticking or popping in your recording at random intervals - I'm not sure where that came from, maybe it's electronic. The noise reduction effect will not reduce this kind of noise, but don't worry about those noises, they aren't unacceptably loud.

Thanks for chapter 9, I'm looking forward to 10.

Well, you did manage to upload it to the wrong MC
It should go to mightyfelix

I think Devorah could retrieve it, but still would be better if you would upload it again.

Thank you!
I see you've completed your test recording, so I just need to know how how you would like to be listed in the Librivox catalog - real name, pseudonym or any nickname you wish. This is how you will be credited for all of your LV projects, of which I hope there will be many.

Just watch your volume. There is a section on this in our Newbie Guide to Recording, linked under point to of the initial post for this project.

WELCOME TO LIBRIVOX

I've completed and uploaded the recording

For the catalogue, please list me as Lindsay May

Thanks!

Chapter 3 - Lightfoot Saves a Girl - PL OK.
There is some clipping near 7:07 in the chapter - where Lightfoot says, "Baa-aa-aa" - but it doesn't sound too bad there.
Thanks once again Maria. You've been very busy turning in chapters in multiple books - good for you.
