Thanks again ... I think we're making great progress. Really appreciate your help and will try to keep up my end.

Though book is considered a Canadian classic and iconic of Canada with its gentle humour and quaint small town tribulations, some see the book as an idealized portrait of days long gone and not relevant today - but reading (and re-reading) it, I think that it captures a timeless combination of bemusement and affection for one's own community (geographic, cultural, or whatever other form it takes) - and upon this re-reading, I also see Leacock making fun of himself in many of the characters ... rather than mocking Mariposa as was presumed on publication.

Take care in the very lively community that is Wisconsin - Cheers

You're doing a wonderful job with this.

I hope that this author gets full credit in Canada (and elsewhere) for his talent. He compares most favorably with Twain, if not bests him in including these poignant mentions such as that of the Judge's son.
