Hi TriciaG

Thanks for the comment on the cover and giving me an excuse to explain.

The image is of the Old Brewery Bay on Lake Couchiching - looking out from Stephen Leacock's summer home in Orillia (Orillia the presumed model for the town of Mariposa in Sunshine Sketches) ... the home is now a Canadian national historic site and museum see https://www.historicplaces.ca/en/rep-reg/place-lieu.aspx?id=10582 - the white building on the right is of the reconstructed Leacock boathouse ... where, on the second floor, Leacock wrote Sunshine Sketches in 1912 ... the reconstruction has been used a children's play area and writer's retreat of sorts. The clouds in the painting represent the imagings flowing from the boathouse: my wife did this painting for me a few years ago ... with the silhouette of Leacock in his favoured hat ... teaching a boy to fish ... suggesting I was learning to laugh and think from Leacock ... but using it on the cover of the book, I think of it more as the boy inside Leacock who is musing on hometowns and reminiscing ...

Cheers
