Note that in the last line I used the poetic pronunciation of "wind" with a long I and a diphthong.

Wow, what a voice, Margaret!

I would describe it as 'satiny' with just a touch of that smoky lilt that Lauren Bacall used to bring to the screen. And your timing on the mid-line dramatic pauses was perfect. Many would be tempted to close out the line faster, but you make your listener wait just long enough and then drive the line home.

I reckon Roderic Quinn would be most pleased with this rendition of his poem. I hope to see you over in the Dramatic Section where the plays and dramatic readings are performed. viewforum.php?f=27

Many thanks and PL-OK.

Cheers,
Chris
Hi Chris,
I thank you for your comments on my reading. It means so much to have my work validated and to know I'm on the right track.
The Dramatic Section sounds right up my alley.

Cheers and Chocolate,

Gallipoli obviously meant a lot to this guy :(

I will read section 23 if you like :)
Thought I'd jump in to help with the final PL since Chris seems open to that.

23 is PL OK, but 86 is missing the end of book outro......

Thank you, and sorry I was logged out for the rest of the evening, so I only just now saw this.

Unfortunately still waiting for Chris to rewrite an original intro summary instead of wikipedia. It will be too late for March anyway I guess. But we were very close.

Chris, please let me know as soon as you have the summary ready. :)

ah this is much shorter, thank you. Yes, paraphrasing will work but then I'll add your name to the summary.

Ok, I will launch the cataloguing process now, but I am usure if it's still March where our servers are

Fingers crossed

ok there is an issue with the files...sections 58 to 67 seem to be affected, as there is twice a file with the number 57 in the MW, all the subsequent numbers are off and number 67 is missing.

Chris, could you please download these files and check once more whether the correct poem is read at the correct section ? Then it's only a matter of renaming the files but I need to be sure the poems are all in and read by the right reader.

That's why it's so important to check the filename while PLing. To prevent last-minute chaos.

I will wait with cataloguing until this is solved.

"Roderic Quinn, the seventh child of Irish immigrants, was variously a teacher, public servant and newspaper editor before turning to the writing of poetry and short stories. He was particularly associated with the convivial Dawn and Dusk club which also included as members Victor J. Daley and Henry Lawson."

Final summary completed.

thank you, updated

now only sorting out the file-issues. Best to download from the MW, listen to the title of the poem and check whether it's the correct section.

Let me know, then I can rename the files.
