Hi Sue. I see I am just making it with this one before this collection is full.

Scientific Ghosts by Andrew Wilson
Chapter 9 from Leaves from a Naturalist's Notebook

Afraid my voice sounds a little raspy in this recording, but hopefully it's not too noticeable other than to me!

Hi Jo, Thanks for your contribution to vol. 079! Andrew Wilson's disavowal of specters makes a nice companion piece, or perhaps I should say "oppositional piece" to Piotrek81's "Miss Morrison's Account of the First Visit to the Petit Trianon." Your voice sounded fine to me. I hope the raspiness is not a sign of anything serious. Stay well!knotyouraveragejo wrote: ↑January 18th, 2021, 10:14 pm Hi Sue. Thanks for clearing up apparitions Jo
Your voice sounded fine to me.
A few errors noted:
3:11 but I was too much agitated by a series of incidents which had most powerfully affected my moral feeling – you said mortal --- at least I heard mortal - how about you?
9:32 her mind being occupied with the subject of drinking fountains – you said mouth

Thanks Sue and Craig.
I'll try to get to those two corrections in the next day or two. Thanks for catching them.

Hi Sue,Sue Anderson wrote: ↑January 14th, 2021, 7:24 amHi Brett, Welcome to LibriVox and to the Short Nonfiction Collection! A chapter from the Public Domain (1904) Stories of Inventors would be a welcome addition to the collection. I listened to your one-minute test and you have a great reading voice. We're looking forward to your contribution. Procedural details--format for the file name, uploading, etc. are covered in the instructions at the top of the page, but if you run into any problems, feel free to post your questions here, and either I, or our dedicated proof listener Soupy (Craig) will try to help you out.MrFace wrote: ↑January 13th, 2021, 8:12 pm Hi. I'd be interested in doing a chapter using "HOW A FAST TRAIN IS RUN" from "STORIES OF INVENTORS The Adventures Of Inventors And Engineers. True Incidents And Personal Experiences by RUSSELL DOUBLEDAY." This title was found in your suggested links.
Please let me know if you're interested in adding this one to the collection and I can start on it shortly.
Thanks,
Brett
Sue (Book Coordinator)
I'm just finishing this up but I don't see a chapter number for it for the slate, title and ending. What name (#) should I use?
Brett

Hi Brett, Glad to hear you are coming along with your recording! A chapter number is not necessary for your introduction. You can introduce your reading this way: "How a Fast Train is Run," from "Stories of Inventors" by Russell Doubleday, 1904" This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit LibriVox.org.
At the end of the recording, you just repeat: "End of "How a Fast Train is Run," from "Stories of Inventors" by Russell Doubleday, 1904." You can then add, if you want, "Read by [your forum name or your catalog name].
By the time you are finished recording, the Short Nonfiction Collection (SNF) may be up to volume 080. If you see a notification that volume 079 is filled up, please look for Vol. 080 of the SNF in the thread titled "Readers Wanted Short Works (Poetry and Prose)." ....... If you are in doubt what to do, you can just upload your selection here, and we will enter it into the correct volume for you!
Thanks Jo PLOK

PM sent to ebeltran dated 1/16/2021 re edits needed to Clarence Darrow, Ch. 6 and stating 1/22/2021 deadline was never opened by recipient. PM has been updated and resent, to inform ebeltran that his contribution to snf079 has been put on hold, but that it will be welcome in a future volume of SNF when edits have been completed.

Interesting trips.
One small error:
8:16 Full Turkish trousers of yellow silk were confined at the ankle, just above heelless slip pers; you said heedless
Unless you heard heedless
