I'm not sure about the wave sound effect in Chapter 17. It was neat but I'm assuming the sound effect would have to be in the public domain in order to use it. Maybe Devorah can chime in and confirm. What is the LibriVox policy on sound effects?

I'll wait to mark it PL-OK until we hear back

Unfortunately, Jude, Jenn is right on this one. It's just too hard to definitively prove that a given sound effect is truly public domain.

There have been a number of times when I've wanted to use a sound clip in one of my files, but it's not worth the risk of a legal challenge. If you want to read the "official" policy on this, it can be found here: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Music_%26_Sound_Effects_Rules

That being said, there's no reason not to throw in a good WHHOOOOOOSSSSHH vocally, if you like.
