Good Late Evening:

Napoleon and the Spectre

A question -- I can not seem to get into this collection except through the Forum, which is the long way. Am I doing something incorrectly??

Any way, Enjoy.
I didn't even know Charlotte Bronte had ever met Napoleon

Oh, that's my fault! I remember it has happened before, so just let me know if I do it again, and I will fix it!
For this collection, it's now fixed! Thank you!

And thank you for your recordings! I am updating the Magic Window!

Hi Dale,

I loved listening to this, thank you! Although think I'll avoid any taps in the evenings for a while :)

It's PL OK!

Rapunzelina - happy to take more PL if you want, just let me know!

Thank you for PLing! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Yes, please do :D Since you're up for more, I'm thinking, keep doing it, until you've had enough, or until you're hooked  in which case I'll sign you up as the DPL and give you access to the Magic Window to mark sections PL OK.

Hi - this was really well read, great dramatisation!

Only one PL note - a missed edit and repeat at 13:57
"He arose" (hand clap) " He arose"
Thank you Dale - another PL ok! I'll check Napoleon and the Spectre hopefully tomorrow (intrigued by that one!)

I did do the one-minute test and got the ok on that, however I'm still working on getting the right volume level so just let me know if that or anything else needs fixed!

Congratulations on completing your first Librivox Recording, Jordan!

Here's your Reader Page https://librivox.org/reader/15154 which you can also access from your name-link in the Magic Window. It lists the projects you read for, and can also help you keep track of your sections in ongoing projects, under the "Reader section details" link.

Thank you for your recording! It will be proof-listened within a week, probably by Alix, I think she's enjoying this :D

I did check the technical specs since it's your first recording, and I have a few comments on those.
First about the filename: each project has a specific filename format (instructions in the first post of each project).
Sampling rate is 48000 but it should be 44100Hz, and it should be in mono (it's currently in stereo).
And while spot listening to check volume and background noise (volume is a bit on the high end but still ok, no background noise  ) I think it's a raw recording. Do you perhaps have an edited version of it? Maybe you accidentally uploaded the wrong file, and you still have an edited file with the correct tech specs and filename :D :?:

Oh no, how embarassing, I definitely just uploaded the wrong file. Here's the right one, and I've edited the link in the original post as well. Thanks for the catch!

Hi Jordan, congrats on your first recording! Really well read - I happened to have read this story over the weekend (it is nearly Halloween after all) so it was great to hear your interpretation.

A few PL notes.

The file's sample rate is still 48,000 Hz, it should be 44,100 Hz. You can set this in Audacity at the bottom left of the window.

It is a little loud - we aim for 89db, with a window of 87-91db, you're just over at 91.2. You might find changing the sample rate drops it a bit so if you run it through the checker after doing that you might find this is resolved.

I hear quite a noticeable click in the background at 00:27

There's some noise in the 5 mins of silence at the end of the recording - I hear movement at 07:12.

Still a great job for a first recording though, thanks so much for submitting!
