Thank you, Joanne! Section 2 is ready for spot PL with the following phrases replaced:

an extraneous noise at 1:58 (door slamming outside)
4:32 No lawgiver meditating...
12:01 and viewed askance...

Sorry, Joanne. Please hold off on the spot PL of section 2, if you haven't started already. I noticed just now that the footnotes include a translation of the long French quote. I want to add it to the recording.

I've inserted the footnote at 36:42.

Thanks,
Michael

Section 2 is PL OK! I agree with your decision to add the footnote: it provides additional context and illumination. I'm looking forward to hearing more.

I am sorry it has taken me this long to PL section 3. Another great read, with just a few substantive deviations from the text:

7:27 That is the (not one) great truth in Savigny's theory of its origin.

7:42 and its embodiment in legal forms (not norms).

22:17 It is (not Is it) because it has been thought more important

22:36 It is (not Is it) because the public good is supposed to be best subserved by free competition

Otherwise, PL OK. I'll leave it to you to decide whether to make the indicated changes, and I look forward to hearing section 4.

Thank you, Joanne! The timing is perfect. I've been catching up on other commitments in the meantime. Section 3 is ready for spot PL with the following changes:

7:27 That is the (not one) great truth in Savigny's theory of its origin.
7:42 and its embodiment in legal forms (not norms).
22:16-22:40 Three sentences replaced

11:50 If judges have wofully misinterpreted (not misrepresented) the mores of their day

12:40 the surety would <not> have the privilege

13:10 as (not and) where the principal in the interval

Otherwise, PL OK.
