[COMPLETE] Insomnia Collection Vol. 5 - tg

Is there any limit to the number of contributions we can make to the Insomnia collections? I have another (entirely different, but still soporific) chunk of local history I'd like to record.

You can definitely do another one. I don't know about limits; we didn't have any before, but if someone tries to submit 10 sections, I'll have to impose one.

The Andover account is PL OK!

I know! That’s one of the things I loved about this guy. It’s like: Henry Smith married Martha Jones. Their son cut his own throat. His house is the second one on the post road, 30 rods from the pond named after Zebediah Abbott who bought the land in 1735.....

Boring boring BOMB boring....

I’m gonna have to read more of this series in a future collection.

Also, I didn't realize how raspy my voice sounds until I was well into the editing process, but then it struck me as a very noticeable hoarseness. If you think it's bad enough to annoy listeners awake, instead of soothing them to sleep, please be honest enough to say so. I won't be offended, as I have my own doubts about the matter already. If necessary, I don't mind scrapping these recordings and trying again. I want to be sure they will actually work as a put-em-to-sleep aid.

I heard a bit of raspiness, but I don't think it's enough to warrant a re-do.

For some reason, I first inexplicably interpreted "pseud" as an acronym, and began to read it out letter-by-letter, when it suddenly dawned on me that it was abbreviation for pseudonym - (duh!)
Maybe that's a sign the book was already putting the reader to sleep!

I'm glad the raspiness doesn't seem as bad as I'd feared; thanks for reassuring me.

Yeah, sometimes a supposedly boring topic can be actually interesting, depending on the listener's background. I have decided that my ideal Insomnia recordings - the ones that work to put me to sleep - have to be on topics I'm sort of interested in, at least enough to initially distract me from my brain's worries. (A phone book, for instance, would just slide right past me unnoticed and leave me worrying away.) But after the first few minutes of being interested in the topic, it should then gradually dawn on me that the writer's style of presentation is very dull and repetitive and rambling, at which point it loses my attention and I doze off. So - mildly interesting topic, very boringly presented - that's my idea of a good insomnia cure.
