And so is section 8:

Time on this one: 36:05.

If I had been in Congress in 1911, I'd have been so glad to get this address on paper. Nearly two hours long so far, with three parts left to record, and W.H.T. is just getting warmed up! Imagine having to sit through it--

Due to the layout of the speech I’m pretty sure this was given in writing. I can only hope. Scanning for points of interest would be a lot easier than staying focused for it.

Wilson was the first to deliver orally in person.

Washington and John Adams presented in-person addresses. I assume they read them aloud.

Perhaps, but John was obnoxious and disliked. "Sit down, John!" they would sing.

Section 8 is also PL OK. Let me know if you want to put the remaining sections back in the reader pool for someone else.

Not complaining about how long it takes to record, just musing about how very different it is from more recent addresses. I'll finish it.

Thanks,

Joanne

Section 9 (that's Part III of the 1911 address) is posted:

https://librivox.org/uploads/linny/stateoftheunion_1909_1912_09_various_128kb.mp3

Time is 18:05, and the entire section is devoted to tariffs on wool. What a different time it was.

Thanks for listening,

Joanne
