PL OK. I've been trying to research Italian politics of the C19 as a background to Henry James's "Italian Hours" but my mind reels. I'm hoping that Cavour will clear things up a bit.pnagami wrote: ↑December 25th, 2020, 12:12 pm Hi Barbara,

Though relatively unknown today, T.H. Green was, in the last quarter of the 19th century, an influential and salutary counterweight to Herbert Spencer's nihilistic doctrines of Social Darwinism. He believed with Hegel, in the role of evolving reason in the history of the cosmos and in the importance of "respectability" (i.e. temperance). He married Charlotte Green and with her helped to create an Oxford women's college. Green died, aged 45, of septicemia.

Thanks, Pam. I checked his Wikipedia entry too. I suppose the fact that he was a descendant of Oliver Cromwell might have been a spur to his developing an interest in the Commonwealth. You make philosophy easy (less difficult) to understand. An "of", inserted itself at 10:12 viz."The philosophy of Green here referred to."pnagami wrote: ↑December 29th, 2020, 9:14 am Hi Barbara,

Hi DaveC,
I have added a summary and would you be so good as to remove the last two sections?

Done.
Pam,
I noticed that the book title on the project screen page includes the names of the "thinkers." Do you prefer that to just "Six Radical Thinkers" (without the subtitle)?
Thanks, DaveC,
The book's original title includes the six names, so I think the catalogue should include them.

Yes, Barbara. World War I put the brakes on that lovely transcendental progressivism.
