You could, but I would read the word. Shilling, pence, and pound.

EDIT: 1d. is one penny. 2d. is 'tuppence' and 3d. is 'threepence' or 'thruppence.' 4+ is 4 pence, 5 pence, etc. It gets more complicated than this but that should do it.

Section 8 is nicely read! I have a note about the total of the last tables, around 19:53 and 20:28 in the recording, it's "total 1 pound", instead of 100 (it's 1 pound, 0 shillings, 0 pence)

Totally optional, while you're in the file editing, you could try the noise reduction effect in audacity (for some very light background noise that my headphones catch) to see if it sounds any better to you. If you do try it, since the noise is quite light, I would also suggest lighter settings, eg. Noise Reduction: 10, Sensitivity: 3.
