Sonnet IV by Hartley Coleridge (1796 - 1849).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/sonnet-iv-by-hartley-coleridge/
The second of two poems celebrating the birthday of Hartley Coleridge, this one taken from Poems of Hartley Coleridge in two volumes, Volume II. ( David Lawrence)
Each week a poem is chosen to be recorded by as many LibriVox volunteers as possible!
This pair of Weekly Poems has been suggested by Newgatenovelist
This week's poem can be found here.

Set your recording software to:
Channels: 1 (Mono)
Bit Rate: 128 kbps
Sample Rate: 44100 kHz

Have questions on "how"?
Check LV's Recording Notes thread before recording. If this is your first recording, you'll also find this Newbie Guide to Recording useful.
Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
Sonnet IV by Hartley Coleridge, read for LibriVox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, your location, and/or your personal URL.]
Then read the poem:
Let me not deem that I was made in vain,
Or that my Being was an accident,
Which Fate, in working its sublime intent,
Not wish’d to be, to hinder would not deign.
Each drop uncounted in a storm of rain
Hath its own mission, and is duly sent
To its own leaf or blade, not idly spent
‘Mid myriad dimples on the shipless main.
The very shadow of an insect’s wing,
For which the violet cared not while it stay’d,
Yet felt the lighter for its vanishing,
Proved that the sun was shining by its shade:
Then can a drop of the eternal spring,
Shadow of living lights, in vain be made?

At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.

Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording.
Save your recording as an mp3 file using the following filename and ID3 tag format:
File name - all in lowercase: sonnetiv_coleridge_your initials in lowercase_128kb.mp3
(e.g. sonnetiv_coleridge_klh_128kb.mp3 )

ID3 tags (Version 2.30): ID Tags are completed during Cataloging

*Readers, please check back in a day or so for any feedback regarding your reading.

*Best to copy the filename provided above into the LV Uploader, inserting your initials of course.

Transfer of files (completed recordings) Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file. Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.
  • Upload your file with the LibriVox Uploader: https://librivox.org/login/uploader
    Image
(If you have trouble reading the image above, please message an admin)

  • When your upload is complete, you will receive a link - please post it in this thread.
  • If this doesn't work, or you have questions, please check our How To Send Your Recording wiki page.

Thank you spatel2, you've read Sonnet 4, but used the sonnet 9 filename (IX).
I think you have confused the two poems, best to do them one at a time and upload them separately to avoid confusion.

Could you upload again please using the right filename?

The corrected file name: https://librivox.org/uploads/aradlaw/sonnetiv_coleridge_sp_128kb.mp3

There was a bit of confusion among me, and I got the sonnets mixed up.
