The Tickencote Treasure by William Le Queux (1864 - 1927).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-tickencote-treasure-by-william-le-queux/
Paul Pickering is a doctor without a fixed practice and when an old sea captain asks him to join a voyage around the Mediterranean thats finally an exciting prospect for him. The journey goes well until they spot a most strange vessel somewhere off the coast of algeria. It is an old elizabethan craft that looks to have been submerged for hundreds of years and recently bubbled back up to the surface. The men board it and find that it had been hermetically sealed all these centuries, all contents intact. But it does not, as first hoped, contain gold. The men find barely legible manuscripts and a mysterious old man, who appears to be as old as the vessel itself... ( Carolin )

  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

This should be enjoyable fluff. I've launched it as a solo so I can get started, but it anyone else wants to participate, we'll figure out how to make it a group read. Chime in if interested.

Hmm. That would be difficult. Solos have the perk of the abbreviated LV intro on the second and subsequent sections; group projects stick with the longer one throughout. So either you'll need to record the longer intro for all sections in case someone wants to read a chapter or two also, or you'll need to commit to the solo. (And, are you OK with BC'ing a group project? You know - entering the claims, orphaning claims when the claimant disappears, etc.?)

Hi, Tricia.

I didn't realize it was that complicated. No, I'd rather not be BC...I’m not good at coordinating others, nor, for that matter, herding cats. :)

Since I’ve already started recording chapters, I'll leave this one as a solo. Do you have room in your schedule to be MC?

Thanks, Steve

I can MC for you, if you like. Unless Tricia would prefer to. Looks like a fun book.

Alright, you're all set up. I'm going to confirm with Carolin that she did in fact write the summary, instead of pulling it from GoodReads or something like that, just to be on the safe side.

I notice that you have listed several genres for this book. It's preferable to limit the number of genres so as to narrow down more closely what kind of book it is. Could you choose perhaps two genres only, out of the four you've listed?

Hi Devorah...thank you. Yes, this should be fun.

I’ll populate the MW shortly. And I reduced the number of genres to two, as suggested.

Duration 16:42

Chapter 02. What We Saw and What We Heard

Feedback is always welcome and much appreciated. :)

Great! Nothing like a strong beginning! Hopefully we'll pick up a DPL soon. We'll hang out here for a few days in hopes of doing that.
